You say you will eat or not eat something. You feel determined. But before you know it, you’re eating it! What just happened? And why did it happen? That’s what I’m going to talk about with you today.
Alright…. imagine this: You want something, you want to be able to do something, like wait until you are hungry to eat, or stop eating when your body says: enough! and you try to do it.
But your new goal smacks into what you think
It’s like an internal mental Collision!
This happens when what you want isn’t compatible with what you believe. What you think.
And remember, beliefs are just thoughts that you’ve practiced thinking repeatedly, so they are just very firmly entrenched in your mind, and they come up often.
How do you even know what you believe?
When you ask yourself a question, when you are trying to make a decision, the answers that come up come from what you believe.
It’s how you talk to yourself when no one is listening.
That sneaky little voice in your head that tells you you’ll probably fail, or says things like: who are you kidding, …. whenever you make a decision, once again, to stick to your eating plan. That inner voice that challenges you and shakes your confidence. Which was probably shaky to begin with, right?
It’s kind of amazing but the truth is that that little voice holds all the power over you.
You might think: it’s just my thoughts! What’s the big deal? No one even hears my thoughts…it’s between me and me!
But it is all about your thoughts because they lead you to all the things you do, and all the things you say you’ll do and then end up blowing off.
