results take timeMaking changes in the things you do every day is challenging.

Especially changes in eating and how you look at food, hunger and your body.

So I often hear this question from my clients:

‘I’ve been following a weight loss program for a while and still haven’t lost all the weight I want. What am I doing wrong?’

The short answer is nothing.

It’s just that when you make big changes, like not eating until you’re hungry, and stopping before you’re too full, the results of these new behaviors take a while to show up.

You do the new behavior over and over again.

Each time you do it, you have a small, incremental change.

It’s hard to see with the naked eye.

First you stop gaining weight.

And very slowly you begin losing weight.

And if you keep doing the new behaviors little by little they add up.

The pounds start to show on the scale.

And you think, ‘Finally! It’s finally working!”

But it’s been working all along.

What you need to know and remember is that every single choice you make in the food world counts. Every bite counts. And adds up.

So if you are in struggle mode and are making choices that take you in several different directions day after day, the changes you are looking for just won’t show up on the scale so quickly.

When you settle down and have a good run of mindful choices, eventually, of course, they will show up on your body.

The problem is that most people don’t see these results fast enough.

They quit when their weight fluctuates, or remains the same for a while.

Too bad.

They don’t realize that change that starts in your mind will show up last on your body.

Give yourself some time.

Weight gain never happens overnight, and neither does weight loss.

Change in your body takes a while. Know that. And use that knowledge to keep making choices that will benefit you.

Even if you can’t see the results today.
