These words can be confusing. That’s why you might default into giving yourself a sweet whenever you feel that need for ‘something’. Or when you want to reward yourself for a job well done.

And how about a little bribe for getting yourself to do something challenging? That’s allowed, right?

It’s good to take care of yourself, no doubt. But I want you to make sure that what you’re giving yourself really is a well-deserved reward, and not a poorly chosen treat that takes you off track from your goals.

Let’s talk about the difference between self-care and treats, bribes and rewards, when to use them, and how to use them so they feel good and truly lead you closer to what you want.

What are your favorite excuses? I’m sure you’re a bit indignant right now, as in: I don’t have any favorite excuses!

But let me assure you, you definitely do!

If you constantly start and stop your weight loss efforts, and your efforts to stop bingeing and take better care of yourself, the ‘stop’ part comes about because of your excuses.

Excuses are made-up stories you tell yourself about why you can’t do something.

I know you don’t really want to believe them. But you do.

In this coaching session, I’m going to show you what an excuse is, and how it’s different from an obstacle.

We’re going to talk about why and how your brain falls in love with your excuses, and doesn’t want to let them go. Even though they hurt you.

If this sounds like the bad boyfriend from 7th grade who you wanted to dump but couldn’t, sit down and listen.

I’m going to show you how to break up with those old harmful excuses. And in the process, find your way around any obstacles that ARE real.

Episode 70: Why Do I Keep Saying “Screw It!”?

Have you ever reached the point in your eating and weight loss journey, where things aren’t going well, and you say: “The heck with it!”

Or, “I just can’t do this!” Or, “I’ll just start tomorrow.” Or, “Something must be wrong with me.”

All these thoughts have one big thing in common: they stop you from moving forward and take you totally off track. They keep you stuck in a pattern of failure.

All are versions of screw it!

These are habitual negative ways of thinking when things don’t go as planned. And they all prevent you from achieving what you want most: peaceful eating and, for many of you, weight loss as well.

So today, I’m going to coach you about this common thought of screw it. We’ll talk about when it comes up, what it might sound like in your own mind, why you think it at all, and, finally, how to stop saying, “Who cares!” and what to think instead.

I will help you stop what constantly derails you: your seemingly innocent thoughts.
