Whether you want to lose weight or stop bingeing, you need to do something differently than what you’ve always done.

What if this doesn’t work? What if I just can’t do it? What if I’m different?

Have you ever made a plan to eat differently, and then failed? Failure in my eyes may be different from how you see failure in yourself.

To me, making a mistake is not a failure. But making a mistake and falling down and not getting back up is the true definition of failure.

What I’d like to coach you about today is learning how to create a pause instead of a stop.

A pause where you evaluate what’s going on and what you might need to adjust to move on.

And moving on is definitely part of the picture.

I think one of the most common mistakes my clients make is falling down and staying down.

Did you ever imagine that cleaning out your home, your closet or even your kitchen can help you see what’s holding you back from permanent weight loss?

The answer is: they are all connected.

In this coaching session, I will show you:

  • Why many of us are drawn to all kinds of organizing, and why it feels so good to clear out the clutter.
  • How your closet is like your mind, only it stores different things.
  • What happens when you have an overstuffed closet AND an overstuffed mind, with things that don’t serve you anymore.
  • How to know what to keep and what to toss, both from your thinking and your closet.
  • Why you need some clear, uncluttered space in that mind of yours.
  • And how to figure out how to keep things clear, once you’ve reorganized.
  • Want to be a new you? Then you need to decide what works, what doesn’t and what to do about it. All from the perspective of the kind of woman you wish to be.
  • And finally, take a leap and choose one thought about yourself that makes you feel bad, and holds you back, and let it go.

When you’re changing your eating to eat naturally and get to a comfortable weight, there will be challenges.

There will be roadblocks. But finding your way around the roadblocks is your work.

  • How do you define something as ‘hard’?
  • What goes on in your mind when you think something is TOO hard?
  • Understand how and why continually thinking things are too hard will keep you stuck exactly where you are.
  • I know this is hard to believe, but hard is good, and I will show you why.
  • How can you reframe ‘hard’?
  • Learn to manage your mind to deal with and even welcome challenges.
  • Can you think of a time you got through something challenging? How did you feel afterwards?
  • What is the key phrase you can use to feel good when you have a challenge, even if you don’t know how to move forward in the moment?

All my clients are in a big hurry to get to their weight goal. They don’t want to waste a moment; they just want to get to the end.

I tell them the words they need to hear but definitely don’t want to hear. Those words: slow down!

If you don’t slow down and take a peek in the rear-view mirror, you’ll never learn how you ended up where you are, how you gained the weight.

And then you’ll be doomed to keep repeating your patterns.

Here’s what you’ll learn in this coaching session, the first of a two-part series:

  • Exactly why you need to look at your past weight and eating history.
  • Why your weight right now is exactly where it should be.
  • How to look at your weight and fact the facts, and not create drama about it.
  • Your weight today is no mystery… and why that’s a good thing.
  • What patterns led you to today?
  • Did you deal with your moods in the past with food?
  • Was your motivation lagging?
  • Did you have a strong vision of what you wanted?
  • Do you know how to pick yourself up when you inevitably fall down?
  • Did restriction and deprivation hold you back?
  • Are you a perfectionist? Perfectionism and weight loss don’t mix!
