When we’re children, we want what we want.
And we want it NOW.
We don’t care about consequences.
We don’t know about the slippery slope of instant gratification.
And we aren’t aware that the word ‘brat’ could sometimes aptly describe us.
But today, as grown-ups, our inner spoiled baby still sometimes rears her cute little head.
When we want to do something that clearly isn’t in our best interests, but we do it anyway.
Or, when we want to overeat because we don’t want the pleasure to stop.
Or, when we figuratively stamp our feet and say, ‘I don’t care!’
The hallmark of a true adult is knowing when to say ‘no’ to ourselves.
Because we know it’s leading us to what we REALLY want.
So listen here, all you cute but mischievous babies:
We’re in charge of you.
And we’re puttin’ our foot down.
