Life Isn’t a Straight Line, and Neither Is Weight Loss

life isn't a straight lineWe have the best plan.

We map out our action.

We press the Start button.

And we go.

And we expect to keep going until we reach the end.

The finish line.

The prize.

But stuff happens along the way.

Things that are a part of life.

Things we can’t avoid.

The trick, in life and in weight loss, is to know how to keep going.

Stay on the path.

Jump over the branches in the road and navigate around the potholes.

Which is easy, if you expect them.

Our problems arise when we tell ourselves that it should be smooth.

A straight shot to the end goal.

Now why would we think that?

Nothing in life is a straight shot.

Detours abound.

In life. In weight loss. In relationships.

That’s the way it’s meant to be.

Up and down and around a mean curve.

Can you know that, and just buckle up?

That is what will take you to the finish line.

Know what’s ahead, even if it isn’t in a straight line.

Expect the curves.

And keep going.

My guides once told me that I wasn’t meant to see more than the next 200 feet in front of me. I railed at that thought. But now, I have become acclimated to the reality, so I see what you mean.
    Thanks for the good posts.

  2. Lilia, what a great perspective! If you can be at peace knowing that you don’t always know what’s coming, then you can stand back and actually enjoy the ups and downs of life.
