Focus Changes Everything

focusIf you’ve ever watched the Oprah show, no doubt you’ve heard the phrase ‘Law of Attraction’. Today you’re going to learn exactly what it is and how it applies to your weight loss. The Law of Attraction is a concept that states, ‘like attracts like’… that we attract to ourselves what we feel, what we believe and what we focus on.

Does that mean that we always cause everything that happens to us in life? No, there are other forces and randomness to the universe that take credit for some things. Genetic accidents and lifestyle might account for who gets sick and who doesn’t.

Location on the planet might account for earthquakes and floods. And imagine how many factors might play into the ups and downs of the stock market.

But in our own lives, there are certain things that come to us, or don’t come to us that we can control.

And one of the factors affecting your weight loss is indeed the Law of Attraction. It’s what you tell yourself AND what you really believe that will determine what you focus on. And if you focus on something, and it feels good and you really believe it’s possible, it will be easy for you to take actions that will take you closer to your weight loss goal.

If you want to lose weight, but secretly, or not so secretly don’t believe you can, or don’t believe it’s possible, your beliefs will become a self-fulfilling prophesy. And you won’t lose weight.

So don’t just say, ‘I’m going to lose 25 pounds, I can do it!’ without really believing you can. Look for evidence that you can. Cultivate the belief that you can.

Don’t focus on your extra weight. Don’t think about how ‘fat’ you are. That will bring a feeling of defeat… you will keep doing what you’ve always done and what will you get? More weight. Focus on what you want, not on what you don’t want.

When you catch yourself focusing on what you don’t like about your body, quickly redirect your thoughts to what you do like.

You aren’t lying to yourself… you are just focusing on something you’re not in the habit of focusing on.

In the end, you do have to take actions to lose weight, no doubt about it. But it WILL be easier to take actions if you believe you can.

And if you envision yourself doing it.

Belief first. Then focus.

Then comes the evidence.

As Wayne Dyer says, ‘You’ll see it when you believe it, NOT you’ll believe it when you see it’.
