Cut The Cord That Holds You Back

cut the cordIs this you?

You know in detail the reasons why you can’t get where you want to go in your life.

You understand why you are who you are today.

And you can easily explain where your habits came from.

Understanding why is nice. It gives you a good story you can use to define yourself. But the question I’m interested in is: Is this how you want to define yourself now?

The Cord that Ties You Down

Is this how you want to live? To act? To see yourself?

If any part of your life is different than how you’d like it to be, then I have some radical surgery for you.

Cut the cord.

Yes. Cut the cord from your bad childhood.

From your unsatisfying relationships.

From your behavior that drives you crazy.

From the person who used to self-sabotage (you!)

From mistakes you’ve made.

Separate from your past. Stop reliving your old patterns that keep you stuck.

Cut the cord and start now.

However you choose to think will create everything that lies ahead of you. And it doesn’t have to be connected to what came before.

You have only one requirement to be free.

Cut the cord.

Thank you Cookie. I really needed to read this today. My thinking around my eating has not been helpful at all and now I can see I need to cut that cord and move on.

  2. Hi Robyn, We all are in the habit of defining ourselves based on what we’ve always done in the past. When we stop, then we are truly free to move forward. Thanks for reading!
